  • Lindsay Syler, DVM

    • Owner / Veterinarian

Dr. Lindsay R. Syler graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2008 after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 2004.

She joined the Fain & Smathers Veterinary Hospital in Jasper, TX in June of 2008. In December of 2010 she moved back to her home town of Diboll and bought Angelina Animal Hospital from Dr. Daniel Salas DVM, her child-hood veterinarian, mentor, and family friend.

Dr. Syler recalls working with her grandfather on his farm at a very young age and knew then she wanted to become a veterinarian.

That dream was also solidified as she progressed and became very involved with the 4-H program and showing Brangus cattle. She believes there is nothing more rewarding than helping animals that cannot speak for themselves.

In her spare time, Dr. Syler enjoys off-road racing with her husband, Clay Gilstrap, riding horses, and fishing. The best thing about her job is doing what she loves every day…..working with, treating, and addressing the needs of animals all day long!  Teaching and assisting the wonderful pet owners is an added plus.

  • Brittany Walraven, DVM

    • Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Walraven is an Associate Veterinarian at AAH. She received her Bachelors Degree in Animal Science from Louisiana Tech University and Graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine From LSU in 2016.

Dr. Walravens family played a huge part on her journey to becoming a veterinarian, including her dad and step-mom (Daleon and Kathaleen Walraven), her mom and step-dad (Deidre and Marty Fluegge), Brother (Michael Walraven), Grandmother (Sue Walraven), late grandfather (Robert Walraven) and all of the friends and loved ones that showed their support along the way.

She became a veterinarian because she wanted to be able to help ensure that her friends, family, and others in the community were given the necessary knowledge and medicine to give their pets the best care possible.  She feels that every animal deserves first class care, and that she could help contribute by becoming a veterinarian.  Her favorite part of her job is giving back to the community, helping patients and pets in need, and educating people about the importance of general wellness and disease prevention in the pet population.  Her time away from the hospital is spent with her family, friends, yellow lab "Remi" and her kitty "Poe" exploring the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.

What Dr. Walraven loves most about Angelina Animal Hospital is our top notch veterinary services, knowledgeable, friendly staff and family atmosphere.  When asked what her most memorable moments at AAH are, her response is, "that amazing memories are constantly being made daily"!

    • Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Hansen is an Associate Veterinarian at AAH.  She received her Bachelors degree in Animal Sciences from Purdue University and graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine also from Purdue in 2016.

Her family has been with her every step of the way.  Her parents have supported her since day one and her sister always pushes her to do her best and is always there to lend an ear when she needs advice.

Dr. Liz Hansen has wanted to be a vet since she was a young girl.  She grew up loving horses from the time she was old enough to walk and helping animals is all she's dreamed of.  Dr. Hansen loves being a vet because she has the ability to see both small and large cases each day. Each case/patient is always different.  When not treating animals Dr. Hansen spends her time reading, fishing, hiking, riding horses and traveling.  Never far away you will find her sidekicks "Petey" the cat, "Henley" the lab and "Cruizer" her quarter horse.

Being able to see a variety of small/large/exotic medicine and surgery cases is what Dr. Hansen enjoys about AAH.  Among her favorite things at the hospital are the great therapeutic options we have for treating cases including MLS laser therapy and hydrotherapy swimming pool.  When asked what her most memorable moment at AAH so far has been she says she has had a lot of great moments, but seeing hard work pay off with happy clients and patients makes it all worth while.
